Tour Details
We’ll begin the free walking tour at the centrally located Plaza Manto, the heart of the island’s historic district. Here, we’ll learn about the inspiring story of Manto Mavrogenous, the great heroine of Greek independence and the undisputed symbol of Mykonos.
From there, we’ll stroll along the waterfront to immerse ourselves in the fishing tradition that sustained the local economy for centuries. We’ll admire the traditional, colorful wooden boats and stop at the old market, where fishermen sell their best catches.
Our walk will take us to City Hall and the iconic Panagia Paraportiani Church, an immaculate white architectural gem. Did you know it’s one of the most photographed churches in all of Greece?
We’ll continue walking until we reach Little Venice and the Windmills, undoubtedly the two most iconic sites in Mykonos. As we enjoy these postcard-perfect views and the Aegean breeze, we’ll discover the influence that maritime trade had on the island’s historical development.
Next, we’ll venture into the garden of the Manto Cinema, home to the legendary pelican Petros, the island’s official and most beloved mascot. From this peaceful haven, we’ll move on to explore the prestigious art galleries, exclusive boutiques, and the elegant Matogianni Street. Pure luxury and exclusivity!
We’ll conclude our free tour of Mykonos by returning to Manto Square after 1.5 hours.
